Rainy Day Woman - Female Nude 110504

Well, this is the last of Milwaukee Sketch Club's model sketching sessions for me until Fall. I may have to keep an eye out for the next VIPER (Vintage Inspired Portrait & Entertainment Room) Event. It's held in different spots monthly throughout Milwaukee. In the past it's been held at bucketworks, byostudio....

I really enjoyed sketching this model. I like drawing big but it's hard to carry paper larger than 18x24. We started out with 1 minute poses, just getting down the basic shapes. Then as the poses got longer I was able to add shadows and more colors. I really like drawing in pastels because they're colorful, you can make large swatches of color with the sides or use the tips to scribble in the line energy.

The more finished drawing of the longer pose looks wet so I'm calling her "Rainy Day Woman". I think I may finish it off & mount it on masonite for a possible upcoming exhibit in August 19-Sept 8 with the Martini Girls http://www.themartinigirlsgallery.com/ at the artbar http://artbar-riverwest.com/default.asp?page=art

A friend showed me her new how to draw with pencil & measure book by a forensic artist called Carrie Stuart Parks.
